What Are Dental Crowns Made Of?
Any time you’re getting a restorative solution designed to last well over a decade, it’s understandable you’ll want to choose carefully. Our offices in Kissimmee and Orlando offer several options for crown materials, including porcelain, IPS e.max®, and zirconia.
All of these types of crowns are made using cutting-edge materials that deliver beautiful, long-lasting results. Your dentist can explain the benefits of porcelain and ceramic crowns in more detail and recommend a dental solution that’s best for you and your circumstances.
Same-Day Porcelain Crowns With CEREC Technology
Using a handheld oral scanner connected to a computer, your dentist will take a 3D digital impression of your teeth and gums. This impression is used to create a blueprint for your crown, which the milling machine uses to sculpt your crown from a block of porcelain. From there, a high-quality porcelain crown will be ready for placement in a matter of minutes. This will be your permanent restoration; thanks to CEREC, you won't need a temporary crown.
Dental Crowns Crafted In-House A Look at the Process
There's no need to fear the dental chair: we will thoroughly numb your tooth before treatment. We also offer sedation options for relieving dental anxiety.
What About Implant-Supported Dental Crowns?
An implant-supported crown is comprised of a dental implant, a dental crown, and a connecting abutment piece to replace the entire tooth from root to chewing surface. This promotes stimulation of the jaw and avoids bone loss resulting from a missing tooth.
Implant-supported crowns require surgery to place the implant, followed by a healing period. After the implant is fully fused with the jawbone we will attach a porcelain dental crown to the implant to complete your treatment.
Since this restorative solution involves a surgical procedure and a recovery period, the timeline for implant-supported dental crowns is longer than that of a traditional crown.
Will Insurance Cover Dental Crowns?
If you’re getting a dental crown to repair a damaged tooth, insurance will most likely cover the cost of treatment. However, if the crown is being used to address a cosmetic issue, insurance will not cover the cost.
Our dentistry practice accepts most insurances and our team will work with you to maximize your benefits. Ata Dental also accepts financing through CareCredit®, which offers loans with little to no interest divided up into monthly payments to keep your out-of-pocket expenses manageable.
